Meet the Trainer: Brenda Dorador

Senior planet trainer with graduates

This October, Brenda Dorador is celebrating one year of being a Senior Planet trainer in San Antonio, Texas! Brenda has an impressive background in education and curriculum development, including a PhD and Master’s degree in adult education.

What are some of your favorite parts of being a trainer?
I’ve been having a great time! I enjoy the audience, of course. Senior Planet participants are very open and eager to learn, which is sometimes hard to find in other ages, depending on where you’re teaching.

And graduations are always happy moments. I feel there’s a lot of value that’s gained from the students having the consistency of weekly classes. So getting to see all the graduates go through a whole program and then watch them walk to get their certificates – it’s very special.

What are your passions outside of work?
I like to give back to the community. I do a lot of refereeing for the YMCA and local community events like that. And I love to travel. I’m going to do a New Year’s cruise to the Bahamas this year. Something different!

What does aging with attitude mean to you?
I get a lot of thumbs up and a lot of likes when I wear the “Aging with Attitude” shirt. I think it provides a sense of empowerment and confidence. And not being scared of facing challenges head on.

  1. Had the pleasure of attending Protecting Your Personal Information on line with Ms. Brenda Dorado at Collin’s Garden Library. Brenda shared with us her knowledge and explained the process of using the technology world wisely. I was very satisfied with presentation. Congratulations on your anniversary of working with senior’s aging with attitude!
