This week’s topic: Introduction to 3D Printing

We’ve all printed on paper, in 2D.  But now, we can print in 3D! Join Senior Planet volunteer Tim Specht to learn all about the world of 3D printing! This session will introduce you to the basic concepts of 3D printing, from deciding what to print, what material to use, and printing it on a 3D printer.

Tim retired in May, 2023, after more than 45 years working with electronics.  He has enjoyed helping others over the years at work, and decided to volunteer as a support tech for Senior Planet, to help more people in retirement.  Tim and his wife attended a demonstration of 3D printers at the Iowa State Fair in August, 2023, and they were both hooked on the new hobby.  After making a long list of things to print, they bought a printer setup a month later, and have been printing almost non-stop ever since. Tim is also a musician, and enjoys playing classic rock songs on bass and keyboards.
