This event is part of our Experts & Insights series. These programs feature subject matter experts sharing their knowledge with the Senior Planet community followed by a live demo of related technologies and/or apps.
In this presentation, Dr. Matz will discuss her research showing the strong health and well-being effects of meaningful activity engagement in later life – which can include paid work, volunteering, informal helping in one’s community, personal enrichment or hobbies, among other activities. This workshop will also provide an opportunity to explore and deepen your understanding of the “road” to an “engaged” life as you age.
Dr. Matz’ presentation will be followed by a live demo of the social platform Meetup by a Senior Planet trainer.

Presenter Bio:
Dr. Christina Matz, MSW, PhD, FGSA
Christina Matz, MSW, PhD, FGSA, is an Associate Professor in the Boston College School of Social Work, Chair of the Older Adults & Families Department and Director of the Center on Aging & Work. Her research focuses on meaningful engagement in later-life and its effects on the health and well-being of individuals, families, organizations, communities, and society. She is a co-lead on the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare’s Grand Challenge focused on “Advancing Long and Productive Lives” and a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America.
