Medicare, sadly, is a (relatively inept) criminal enterprise. They tried illegally to put a $163,000+ Out of Pocket on me in January, 2024. I turned 65 just last year in April, 2023, so my ‘relationship’ and interactions with Medicare is only about 1 1/2 years. I still have United Healthcare, Empire and Anthem, from when I was employed by New York State, which is now secondary as Medicare is required to be primary. My experience with Medicare Advantage since enrolling for the first time last August has been a nightmare. This is from someone who has 20+ years experience working in the managed care industry. I was enrolled in a plan that didn’t properly inform me of critical information. I was disenrolled and reenrolled in one plan only to be switched to another. It caused a gap in coverage and getting it fixed was impossible due to the finger pointing of the agencies involved. It’s left me with bills.

While I find your information about Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage helpful, I wish more information was available for Vision and Dental plans. I don’t know if they are just not as easily researched or if there aren’t enough good plans out there. There is too much fine print in the dental coverage and it’s not in the interest of the patient. I found out the hard way that my dental plan only covered certain types of crowns.
